Studio E instructors have earned credentials in their individual genres, and many perform professionally. They offer excellent technical and theoretical training, and promote all levels of music education and research for student enrichment and talent development. Our instructors have great integrity and strive to address the individual needs of each student, ensuring an enjoyable experience while helping to build skills and self-confidence.

TERESA CIRILLO - Owner, Director

Instructor: Vocals & Theory / THE MELO TREE (Vocal/Performance Mentoring)

TeresaTeresa Cirillo, a mother of three girls is the Owner and Director of Studio E. Elise Bedard, Marta Greta, and Tom Oliver were her teachers and Teresa studied at Boston’s Berklee School of Music. An accomplished recording artist, Teresa has performed professionally in Europe and North America. In 1999, she won the Critics Choice Award at the Naples Festival of Song in Europe. She recently returned to perform in Italy. You’ll often catch Teresa singing the national anthem for professional sports organizations. With her band, Day Break, Teresa recently won the Festitalia Italian Heritage Award of Distinction, acknowledging their excellence in music and their contributions to the Italian community in Hamilton.

Teresa has been teaching vocals since the 1990s. Before opening Studio E, Teresa gave private lessons in her home. She provides professional vocal coaching to local and national celebrities, musicians, announcers, and comedians including Canadian Idol Winner/Recording Artist Brian Melo, and Canadian Actress/Recording Artist Alicia Josepovic. Teresa offers vocal training for competitive song and dance students from various dance studios in and around Stoney Creek and Hamilton. She is the co-founder of The Melo Tree Performance and Vocal Mentoring program with Brian Melo. Recently, Teresa has joined Talent Nation, an artist development program and talent agency, as a coach and mentor. Teresa travels to Toronto, Montreal, British Columbia and Ottawa to work with some of Canada’s best up-and-coming artists.

As an entrepreneur, Teresa has been recognized for her dedication to her business and for the development of Studio E. In 2015, Teresa was nominated for the Entrepreneur of the Year Award by Women of Influence. She also became an Ambassador for Mompreneurs, a media company and networking organization that aims to support, educate, and empower women in business. Studio E has been heralded as a prime example of what women like Teresa can accomplish with there businesses.

A true humanitarian, Teresa supports local charities. She offers her time and her talents so that her students have opportunities to perform whenever possible!

ROBIN KLEIN

Instructor: Vocal, Flute & Rudiments

RobinFrom humming as a baby to receiving awards as a young performer, music has been a driving force in Robin’s life. Attending Mohawk College, she earned an Advanced Diploma in Music and also met her husband there. Robin has been pursuing a career in music for over half of her life. She started teaching music in a high school co-op class, and continued to expand her skills in college with the ‘Teaching Methods’ class. She has been teaching professionally since 2009. Robin has also worked as a soloist, a choir member and as the lead singer in a rock band.

“Music. I’ve never dreamed of anything else to do with my life because the answer was always music, no questions asked.”

Currently Robin teaches Flute, Piano, Theory and Voice. In her free time, she studies guitar and song writing. Robin and her students work hard together to reach their goals. Some work towards competition, while others work for the year-end recital. Many just want to learn the “How To’s” of music.

Robin loves sharing all the wonderful things about music through her teaching. Each student, no matter the age, has a special place in her heart. She even has a keepsake box with all the gifts her students have given her over the years. Robin dreams of having her very own music school one day where each treasured gift will decorate its own space. For now, Robin has found a wonderful home and gained a wacky family of teachers and staff, working with and for Teresa at Studio E Music and Arts. If you listen carefully, you may even hear her humming happily around the Studio!

MATT SOLIVERI

mattMatt Soliveri is a well-rounded, driven and accomplished drummer and instructor. For 9 years, Matt studied privately under the instruction of Dave Simpson. Matt has many accomplishments to his credit from his many years of playing and performing – from working in recording studios to playing on main stages with various Canadian artists. Matt received his diploma from Mohawk College, where he had studied music and percussion. He has been teaching for the past 7 years at various establishments. Matt’s versatility has given him the opportunity to play alongside many different Canadian artists and bands.

Matt has an enduring passion for drums, which he hopes to pass on to his students, to build our next generation of young drummers.

MELANIE WILSON

Melanie - PictureMelanie studied at the Royal Conservatory of Music in the Resident A.R.C.T. program, and is an associate teacher with the Ontario Music Teacher’s Guild. She has 20 years of experience teaching Piano and Theory.

ADAM WADE

Instructor Vocal, Piano, Guitar, & Rock Band

AdamAdam has been surrounded by music his entire life, beginning with home-based influences that included the music of his father, a children’s singer to the continuous music always being played in the background by his stay-at-home mom.

Adam was introduced to the piano at a young age. He loved hammering out the themes of his favourite movies. At Mohawk College, Adam studied both jazz and classical vocals while earning his diploma.

A professional singer for over a decade, he has been the front man for multiple bands. He spent many summers busking and learning to play the guitar to accompany his singing. He is currently a singer with the local band ‘Go Team’ and he studies composition in his spare time.

MARY-LOUISE FRISINA

Instructor: Piano

MaryMary-Louise has been playing piano since the age of ten and has received her Grade 10 RCM practical in piano, as well as advanced rudiments theory.

She has been teaching piano privately for over 15 years, preparing numerous students for Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) examinations and recitals. She loves teaching students of all ages, using a variety of methods ranging from Classical Training to Pop.

In addition to teaching piano, Mary-Louise has been a fully trained and certified aesthetician for over 27 years who is passionate about delivering a full range of spa services to her clients.

Mary-Louise is married and a proud mother of a daughter and a son. In her spare time, she enjoys playing the piano leisurely, practicing yoga, training at the gym, reading and walking her cute Yorkshire terrier, Leo.

ALICIA MYERS

AliciaAlicia Myers is a graduate of the Applied Music program, majoring in percussion, at Mohawk College. Alicia started playing guitar at age 12 and shortly after began studying the drums in high school. She has been the recipient of many awards throughout her playing career including Best Orchestra in a Musical (Cappies) and the Niagara Musician Scholarship. Teaching music is a big passion of hers and she is excited to show what she has to offer.

Jessie Faiazza

JESSIE BIO PICJessie Faiazza is a graduate of the Applied Music program, majoring in voice, at Mohawk College. She hopes to attend University in the future to receive her Bachelor of Music Degree. Jessie began her vocal training 2010. She has now been taking lessons with Teresa Cirillo at Studio E for 2 years. Jessie’s passion and her ability to share her talent was recognized and she was soon taken on as a substitute teacher. As a singer/songwriter, Jessie has performed at various venues, sharing her vocal and songwriting talent with the Hamilton area. Through her performance experience and education, Jessie has developed the knowledge, opportunity, and right mindset required to help her students achieve their highest potential.

Katie Barr

Instructor: Vocal

Katie Barr is a graduate of the Bachelor of Musical Arts program at the University of FullSizeRender_2[1]Western Ontario where she majored in voice under the instruction of Jackie Short. She now sings under the guidance of Marta Greda-Kicek. Katie has four years of performing experience through the University and participated in two opera programs in 2015. She played the part of the third Lady in the Magic Flute while studying in Italy at the AEDO opera program. She also participated in the COAA program at Western where she sang the roles of Carmen, Octavian, La Marquise and the Third Lady. Katie is an alumnus of the Hamilton Children’s Choir, where she spent nine years performing and travelling internationally under the direction of Zimfira Poloz.  Before attending her undergrad, she performed in several operas with the Hamilton Opera Company, most notably as the third spirit in The Magic Flute.

MATHEW MONTANI

Instructor: Piano

Mathew Montani is a 1st year Piano Performance major at McMaster UniverFullSizeRender (8)sity. Before joining Studio E’s team of instructors, Mathew had over 4 years of experience teaching Piano, Music Theory, & Guitar. By the young age of 14, he had already completed his Grade 8 RCM Practical Piano. Ear-training, harmony, and composition are Mathew’s main areas of interest.

Mathew is diverse in his teaching methods, as he caters his lessons to the needs of his students. He is enthusiast about teaching all aspects of music, encouraging his students to not simply play the right notes, but to play with emotion and passion.

Rob Evangelista

Instructor: Guitar and Bass

Rob has been a prominent figure in the greater Hamilton music teaching community for over 30 years.  Rob attained advanced FullSizeRender (10)certifications in both Plectrum and Classical guitar from the Ontario Conservatory of Music and Royal Conservatory of Music respectively. Upon completing the Teacher Training Program, he was hired at the Ontario Conservatory part-time to teach private and class guitar lessons all before graduating high school.

After graduating from Mohawk College, Business Administration in 1986, Rob was hired full-time at The Conservatory where he successfully used his music and business skills and knowledge to eventually oversee complete studio operations including teaching staff, administration, sales and marketing. Some notable accomplishments and experiences include:

  • co-authored the Syllabus for the Ontario Music Teachers’ Guild guitar curriculum
  • over 25 years as examiner for OMTG affiliated studios
  • adjudicator for several local and regional music festivals and competitions
  • co-founder of the Greater Hamilton Music Festival

What Rob is most proud of though is the successes of so many of his students throughout the years, many of whom went on to pursue professional careers in music themselves.

We’re very pleased to now have Rob join our team here at Studio E. His sense of humour and life experiences will put you at ease making the learning process fun while maintaining a commitment to teaching proper playing technique and reading skills. His lessons are geared toward your individual goals and desires as a player and utilizes his vast teaching and playing experience to help guide you with the relevant, practical material to achieve them.

Eric Johnston

Instructor: Acting

Eric Johnston is a Hamilton born Actor, accomplished Stand Up Comedian and Comedy Eric HeadshotPromoter. Eric has education from both Humber College Theatre Arts and the Vancouver Film School.. Eric stars in the international Children’s show “Splatalot” which is seen in over 170 Countries around the world. Nightly Eric performs on some of the top comedy stages in Canada working along side Canada’s BEST. Eric just finished recording his first stand up comedy special “I Grew Up Here” which is available NOW! Eric recently produced his own TV talk show called “Anytime with Eric Johnston”. This brand new talk show will feature celebrity guests, stand up comedy, sketch comedy and MORE! Eric has been performing on Stage and Screen since he was 6 years old and has shown no signs of slowing down!

Becky Wyatt

Instructor: Violin

Becky has been playing and studying violin for 14 years. During those years she has competed in numerous festivals and has completed many exams, receiving first, second and third place awards, as well as the highest score in her grade in all of ontario for one of IMG_6621her exams. Music has always been a big part of her life growing up, whether it was singing in choir, playing for weddings, or just playing in instrumental quartets with her three siblings.

As an instructor, Becky enjoys teaching students the violin in a way that is structured, fun and encouraging. Whether it’s teaching her students popular songs or trying out a different method book, Becky works to keep her students engaged and excited about learning violin. Over the past year, many of Becky’s students have successfully completed RCM Examinations. She is proud of her students’ continued success and is always looking forward to taking on new students.

Denise Nguyen

Denise is currently in her third year of undergrad at McMaster University in the Honours Biology program. From a young age, she has shown an interest in playing the piano and has completed up to her Grade 8 RCM Practical Piano. She enjoys teaching students of all ages and hopes to share her love for music with others!

Shirley Simpson

Shirley is a contemporary vocal major, who gained her love for music at a youIMG_4743 (1) (2)ng age. She studied voice with Teresa Cirillo from 2009-2014, then continued her music education through Mohawk College. During her 3 years at Mohawk, Shirley had the opportunity to study the various aspects of music, perform locally in the Hamilton area, and gain experience teaching voice privately to her own students. Shirley strives to create a positive and fun learning environment, as well as promote confidence within her students.

Kevin Fournier

Kevin Fournier is a Hamilton based drummer and song writer who loves teaching and connecting with students. Kevin is an honours graduate from Mohawk College’s applied image1 (3)music program, majoring in contemporary drum set. His playing credentials include extensive musical theatre drumming, independent and professional bands as well as playing as a show band musician for Carnival Cruise Lines. Kevin believes in making music lessons fun and that getting a new student involved with music, first and foremost means getting them excited about all the fun they can have as a result of learning an instrument. Kevin is also a skilled band leader and has led many youth combos in achieving the ability to play as a group. He believes that’s where the fun really starts. Kevin is thrilled to join the Studio E family and can’t wait get students started on the amazing journey to musical discovery.

MIKAYLA BOCCALON

Receptionist

Mikayla has been taking vocal lessons with Teresa since the age of nine. She is a member of the Studio E competitive team and has competed throughout southern Ontario since the age of eleven, receiving many first, second and third place accolades.

Mikayla has performed at many events throughout the community, at various fundraisers and as the Hamilton Bulldogs anthem singer.

Mikayla enjoys teaching and sharing her love of music with younger children. She is excited to be teaching Studio E’s flashmob class!

Currently, Mikayla is in her second year at McMaster University studying Psychology, Neuroscience, and Behaviour with a specialization in Mental Health.

Mikayla can be seen at our reception desk throughout the week!

Sara Lampkin

Receptionist

Sara has been taking lessons at Studio E since September of 2011. As a studIMG_7381 (1)ent of Teresa’s, she has been a part of our competitive team since 2012 where she has won many first, second, and third place awards in both Pop and Broadway vocal categories. Sara has also been a longtime participant of our MeloTree program where she shares her skills in songwriting and performance with her peers.

Currently, Sara is in her second year at Mohawk College in the Paralegal program, where she is studying administrative law and business management skills, while working in a legal environment.

Sara’s bright personality lights up our reception desk and Studio E is very lucky to have her as a member of our administrative staff.

Christine Millar

Accounts Manager

Christine joined our Studio E family in 2016 and has recently taken on the Accounts Manager position. Christine has a FullSizeRender (14)degree in Labour Studies from McMaster University, as well as experience in accounting.

Christine is a mother of 2 and for the past 11 years, she has been working as a home daycare provider to children in the Winona/Stoney Creek area – many of which are now Studio E students!
